Two people were killed after a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday evening in Burnaby.

Police were notified of the crash near Duthie Avenue and Montecito Drive at about 5:20 p.m. Two people died because of it, police said, and no one else was injured.

Images from the crash showed a pick-up truck that was towing a trailer was involved in the crash. Firefighters used the jaws of life to get someone out of the SUV.

Officials say the flipped truck, a black Ford F150 pickup, was traveling south on Duthie before it struck into the parked vehicle and rolled.

It is still yet to be determined whether speed or alcohol were factors, he said

Anyone with information about the crash has been asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
