A 44-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl were killed and four others were injured on early Friday in a fiery two-vehicle crash in Volusia County, Florida.

The double fatal wreck was reported at 1:25 a.m. on State Road 472 at County Road 4101 (Kentucky Avenue), south of DeLand.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said the DeBary man, 44, was riding a 2020 Ford pickup east on S.R. 472 when he failed to slow down and hit the back of a 2018 Toyota RAV4 that was driving in front of him.

The RAV4 overturned, and the pickup left the road, hit a tree and caught fire, becoming entirely engulfed in flames. The driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Four others in the RAV4 suffered small injuries. The girl who died was the only one not using a seat belt.

S.R. 472 is closed in the area due to the crash.
