Two killed in car crash after chase by Saint-Jérôme police

Two people were killed after a police chase by Saint-Jérôme police that preceded the crash overnight on Sunday.

The crash took place on Highway 15 at around 1 a.m. after police pursued a driver, who then struck another on the highway. 

Officials responded to a call about a stolen car, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) said.

The suspect fled police and a short chase happened when the driver struck another car on an off-ramp of the highway, causing both vehicles to engulf.

The driver of the car who was in pursuit and one of the three others inside the second car died.

The incident is currently under investigation.
