Two people were killed and three others were injured after a car crash on State Road 46 in Lake County.

Officials say there were three children in a car with two adults when the crash took place on Saturday around 5:40 p.m.

The two children who died were ages 2 and 4.

The crash took place when the driver of the car attempted to pass in a no-passing zone on SR 46 and struck an oncoming truck head-on.

The crash then caused the truck to roll over and engulf.

All five people in that truck were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The two adults in the car suffered minor injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
