Two people were killed in a single-car crash following a police chase in Aurora, Illinois on Friday morning.

It was just before 9:30 a.m. when Aurora police officers conducted a traffic stop at South 4th Street and Galena Boulevard.

A 28-year-old man from Wheaton, was wanted on some warrants, including one for armed robbery. The car’s passenger, a 52-year-old man from Chicago, had been wanted by the Illinois Department of Corrections.

When the officer informed the passenger he was under arrest and should leave car, the driver took off southbound and a chase ensued.

Police gave chase, but the department said they stopped the pursuit the car was fleeing too fast. A short time later, police said they got to know that the car had been involved in a single-car crash near 4th and Ashland.

The crash is currently being investigated.
