Two killed, three injured after car crash in Spotsylvania County

Two people were killed and three people were injured after a car crashed while trying to speed from police in Spotsylvania County, Virginia on Monday morning.

The crash took place just before 2:30 a.m. said they had been the victim of an armed robbery and claimed that the robbers were driving on Lafayette Boulevard.

A patrol officer observed the suspected vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over on Lafayette Boulevard near Longstreet Avenue. Instead of stopping, the driver reportedly accelerated and lost control before striking a tree.

There were five occupants in the car when it hit the tree.

Two of the people inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene.

The three others were admitted to Mary Washington Hospital. Their condition was critical.

Fredericksburg Police Department investigated the crash.
