Two killed, two injured after car crash on Highway 167, Batesville

A head-on crash on Thursday morning on Highway 167 in Batesville saw the deaths of a minor and a woman.

The driver identified as Tammy J Gardner, 55, of Hardy was driving a 2019 Chevrolet van with two minor passengers south on U.S. 167 around 5:53 a.m. when a northbound 2016 GMC Sierra pick-up truck driven by a 20-year-old identified as Cody L. Conboy, of Greenbriar drove into the southbound lanes of traffic and hit the left front of the van with the left front of his truck.

Gardner was pronounced dead along with one minor passenger at the scene.

Gardner’s other minor passenger was admitted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Conboy was admitted to White River Medical Center.

Arkansas State Police is investigating the crash.
