Two killed in two-vehicle crash in Woodlawn, Cleveland County

A two-vehicle accident at Woodlawn in Cleveland County, Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon, resulting In the deaths of the drivers of both vehicles.

The accident was reported at 4:30 p.m. According to an initial report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, Michael A. Burkhart, 50, of Warren and James E. McCoy, 77, of Little Rock were declared dead at the scene by the Cleveland County Deputy Coroner.

The report said McCoy was northbound on U.S. Highway 63 in a 2006 BMW when Burkhart, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup drove over the centerline and into the path of the BMW, hitting it head-on.

Following the impact, the truck came to a stop in the northbound lane of traffic and caught fire. The BMW came to rest on the northbound of the highway.
