Two women killed after vehicle crashes into Metairie canal, Louisiana

Two women after a car crash in Metairie after a car went into Metairie canal, Louisiana.

Deputies say the incident took place around 11:20 p.m. Sunday at West Esplanade Avenue near Academy Drive.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO), the two women in the vehicle were recovered and declared dead at the scene.

They have been identified as 28-year-old Nicole Conforto, of Kenner, and 25-year-old Kale St. Angelo, of Metairie.

The vehicle has since been recovered.

Officials say the vehicle left the roadway for reasons unknown at this time.

“You shed tears and say some prayers and I hope they’re in a better place,” said Joe Conforto, father of Nicole Conforto.

The crash remains under investigation.
