UK car registrations hit highest April level since 2003

by SpeedLux

The numerous new cars registered in April struck its highest level for 13 years, however the motor industry has cautioned that unpredictability over Brexit is serving as a drag on sales.

An estimated of 189,505 cars were signed up during the month, up 2% on the exact same month from 2015 and the greatest number recorded for April since the year of 2003, stated the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The rise implies the UK vehicle market is up 4.4% in the year to date compared with 2015, mainly thanks to a bumper March when over 518,000 cars were registered, making the second best performance on record.

The continuous increase, a trend the SMMT stated was partially down to a wide variety of vehicle loan deals, puts the UK on course to beat the 2015 yearly record of 2.63 m car registrations.
