Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe from VÄTH tuned to deliver 615HP

SLS AMG Coupe from Mercedes Benz has no doubt become the darling of the tuning company. This is even more remarkable since the car has been on the road for just a year now though its popularity amongst tuning firms continue to progress by leaps and bounds. VATH, a tuning firm from Germany has been the latest entrant into the fan followers club of the car with its performance and styling package for the ‘Gullwing door’. The kit is named the V63S kit.

The SLS AMG as we are well aware has a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine fitted to it. The tuning firm used software upgrades as well as an in-house high-performance exhaust system that also allows drivers to adjust the tone of the eight-cylinder unit to extract some juice from the existing engine.

Output of the engine has improved considerably with this tweaking so that the car is able to output 615 HP and 680 Nm or 502 lb-ft at 5,800 rpm, up from the 571 HP and 650 Nm or 479 lb-ft at 4,750 rpm that the car is capable of in its standard form. Acceleration capabilities has also improved from 3.8 seconds for the 0 to 100 kmph or 62 mph rush which is now completed in 3.6 seconds. There is also a positive effect on the top speed feature which increases from 317 kmph to 330 kmph or 205 mph.

The tuning package also incorporates a high performance braking system while there is also a 25 mm lowering kit. The wheels the car will ride on are 20 inch lightweight alloy wheels shod in 265/30ZR20 tires at the front and 315/25ZR20 at the rear.

Along with all these upgrades that affects the performance of the car in a positive manner there is also the aerodynamic enhancing features that the kit consists of and which are inclusive of front lip spoiler, side skirt add-ons and a boot lid spoiler, all made from carbon fiber composite materials. Interior updates include an optional leather sport steering wheels, a new speedometer and black floor mats.

Price of the package in Germany starts from €32,670 or about US$46,600 at today’s exchange rates.
