Volkswagen Group factory in Shanghai has started a gradual resumption of production, the automaker said on Monday.

Its factories in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun, which it operates in a joint venture with China’s FAW Group, continue to increase production volumes, it added.

Volkswagen had said in March that it is not affected by the lockdown in Shanghai.

About 203,334 people in China, have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 4,776 people in the country. Although these figures are heavily disputed and experts say the government has deliberately under-reported the figures.
