Walkinshaw Performance Series II Commodore can give Ferraris a run for its money

by Alex

The man behind the VL Commodore based HSV SS Group A in late ’80s as also the one who founded the HSV is none other than Tom Walkinshaw. He is a well known figure in the Australian auto scene and does not really need any introduction. The company named after him “Walky” also known as Holden has been giving to the market some of the snazziest cars ever. However he is no longer associated with the company as of now.

The AP Series II supercar from Walkinshaw Performance was unveiled at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. This is a Holden commodore Series II SS derivative model in the super saloon genre. It is fitted with an Edelbrock WP 230 supercharger and delivers 617 hp or 460 kw of power along with 780 Nm or 575 lb ft of torque.

The braking system of the car consists of six piston brake rotors and the suspension package of the car has gone through a series of upgrades which has been developed in coalition with Bilsten. The car has also been fitted with a Rockford Fosgate audio system which makes it a truly unique fit.

CEO of Walkinshaw Performance Craig Wilson expressed his satisfaction on the production of the car by saying “We’re celebrating the release of the WP Series II Supercar by producing just 23 examples, finished in Panorama Silver, the same color which adorned the original ‘Walky’ when it debuted at the Sydney Motor show 23 years ago”.

Just the Walkinshaw modifications alone cost around AU$52,200 which translates to US$51,880. This is inclusive of all parts and labor. The price of the car starts at AU$99,990 or US$98,810 and the entire package would be costing AU$47,790 or US$46,930.
