1000 hp Hennessey Venom GT will debut next March in Geneva

by Ionut Dragomir

1200 HorsepowerClose to two years ago Hennessey Performance announced plans to build their own mid-engined supercar with 1000 horsepower.

Until today it seemed that the project has been put on hold. Now we have confirmation that Venom GT is still in the pipeline, and will debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March.

New information reveals that Hennessey is going to use a in house developed V8 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission not a twin-turbo Viper V10. This means the car is lighter and will weigh less than 2400 lbs not 2700 lbs as projected earlier.

Power is rated at up to 1,000 bhp and top speed is estimated at 272 mph (440 km/h). 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) is estimated to take 2.4 seconds, 0-200 mph (322 km/h) 14.3 seconds.
