134,215 G35 by Infiniti recalled due to airbag problems

by Ron Grant

Nissan Motor ordered the recall of the Infiniti G35 coupes and sedans due to faulty airbags that has a tendency of not deploying during a road mishap.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or NHTSA disclosed that the recall may involve around 134,215 of the G35 sedans released as model years for 2005 through 2006, and coupes that rolled out as model years for 2005 to 2006.

According to officials from Nissan, the recall is effective for the cars sold in the United States and their other markets.

The Japanese carmaker is still coming up with a proposal for the federal officials on how the company will fix the problem. Nissan submitted a report two weeks ago to the safety regulators informing them of the potential harm with the airbag malfunction of the Infiniti G35.

NHSTA is pointing to a problem with a wire harness that may be worn out to a certain point that it may delay the deployment of the airbags during a crash.

The NHSTA report did not mention any filed injuries or crashes due to the problem.
