Two people died and one person was critically injured after a single-vehicle crash off Southeast Maricamp Road about 3 a.m. on Friday.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers said a car was eastbound on the two-lane roadway approaching a left curve near Southeast 108th Terrace Road in Florida. After that, the car veered off the road and went straight.

Officials said the car went between two wooden utility poles, down an embankment, and overturned some of the times. The vehicle struck into mailboxes before landing on its wheels in a grassy yard.

One of the passengers, described only as a female, was ejected and hit an abandoned residence. Another female was in the vehicle, and was later pronounced dead. The driver, a man, was found outside the car by a sheriff’s deputy.

The driver was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Identities of the involved are yet to be released.
