Both the Audi TT Coupe and Roadster has been given a thorough once over and the refreshed cars will be up for sale in Europe from this summer onwards. Prices for the Audi TT Coupe starts from €34,850 while that of the Roadster starts from €35,900 in Germany. Both the Coupe and Roadster will now boast of diesel power, being equipped with the 2 liter TDI diesel engine in a move that the company believes will further augment the diesel engine’s share in the TT that has been growing steadily ever since it was launched and which now stand at above 11 percent.
However, cosmetic changes apart, the 2.0-liter turbo charged diesel mill has been kept untouched so that it continues to produce the same 170hp of peak power while peak torque rating too is similar at 350 Nm or 258.15 lb-ft that is available at a quite low 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. Both the models feature a permanent all while drive while the six-speed gearbox that has to be engaged manually are standard fitment.
Audi has revealed that the TT Coupe equipped with the 2.0 TDI unit can propel the car to 100 km/hr from standing still in 7.5 seconds while the top speed of the car is rated at 226 km/hr or 140 mph. The car can do 100 kms on 5.3 liters of diesel which equates to 44.38 US mpg. Also, the car will release about 139gm of CO2 per km which comes out to 223.70 g/mile of CO2 emmisions.
Audi however has no immediate plans to unleash the TDI TTs in the United States right now.
