2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake [spy shots]

by Zack Colt

Once again, Mercedes-Benz has been spotted testing a prototype, this time being a version of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, and as far as we can tell from the pictures, the styling of the car will be carried over from the concept originally unveiled at the Auto China car show in April 2010.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake looks essentially like the CLS four-door coupe currently on sale from the front, showcasing Mercedes-Benz’s latest design language with the new shape headlights and LEDs and plenty of chrome trimmings.
In the back though, things become interesting. Not like usual Shooting Brake vehicles that take on a stylish two-door wagon form, simmilar to a panel van coupe, the CLS Shooting Brake retains the four-door layout. The roof does swoop down considerably though to form an elegant flowing profile.

And, concerning the engine and trim levels, Mercedes-Benz hasn’t confirmed yet the data, but we are expecting the new model to be as normal as the CLS four-dour coupe, which includes a CLS 350 3.5-litre V6 producing 200kW and 350Nm of torque, and a CLS500 model featuring the new Mercedes-Benz 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 320kW of power and 700Nm of torque.

The new Shooting Brake will go on sale in 2012, most likely as a 2013 model.
