2012 Mercedes G55 AMG Shows Its New Face For The First Time [Spy Shots]

by Ionut Dragomir

As some of you might know, the German brand Mercedes -Benz has tried a few times to eliminate the G-Class model line, but the continuing stream of the customer orders has not allowed stopping G-Wagon production.

Now, considering that the current model is on the market for quite some time and despite the fact that the German car maker has announced that there will be no more G55 AMG, the spy photographers were able to photograph the AMG version of the Mercedes G that gets some treatment and you can see the spy photos below.

Considering that the new G55 AMG will now also get the new 5.5 liter twin-turbo engine that we have seen in the CLS 55 AMG for example, this beast will come with a total output between 525 to 544 horsepower depending on what power stage AMG decides to give the G.

No matter what power output it will get, you really need to have your own oil field to be able to enjoy it a full speed. Despite the fact that AMG promises a lower fuel consumption than the current version, this will still be horribly high.

Anyway, ifyou take a look in the photo gallery below, you can easily see that there will also be some optical changes including new mirrors, new air intakes (on this prototype it looks like the whole front bumper is splitted into 3 coolers), LED daydriving lights and so on. The brakes also look updated on this monster.

Look for this car in Detriot in January 2012.
