2013 BMW M3 Sedan: Renderings

by Zack Colt

Due to the fact that the new 3 Series Sedan is just days away from unveiling and most of the design details already have been seen through previous spy photos or “leaked” images, the rendering artist WildSpeed and f30post are now able to give us an idea about how the 2013 BMW M3 Sedan will look. Since we are all anxious to find out how the car will look, especially because its so very controversed, this rendering comes really in handy for fans.

The M3 will first come out as a Sedan, and it is expected in 2013, followed by the M4 Coupe, which is the new naming convention that BMW contemplates using for the high-end sporty model of the 4 Series family. The BMW models will as usually come in three body variants: sedan, coupe and convertible. The M3 sedan will carry the internal code F80, while the M4 coupe takes on the F82 code.

The most important change that is expected from the new M3 is concerning the engine, since BMW has been testing in the past years different powerplants in M3 prototypes, from inline-six turbo engines, to a newly designed and unique V6, and even the current V8 naturally aspirated engine, but these remain rumours and assumptions, since BMW hasn’t released any official info.

As far as looks are concerned, the rendering artist portrays a masculine design of the M3, with powerful cues, road presence and aggressive stance. Aerodynamic elements, along with convex and concave panels, reinforce once again the “Motorsport” in the badge. The headlights now feature the design style first seen on the Vision Concept, with the corner of the “eye” now leading into the kidney grille, a new trend that may be followed in the future by others as well.
