Three people were killed after a car crash in Wasatch County, Utah on Monday afternoon.

The car crash took place at about 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 189 and 2400 South in Heber.

Two cars were traveling through the intersection when one of the vehicles, a Jeep, slowed down very quickly. A truck rear-ended the Jeep, which was engulfed and traveled into oncoming traffic. The Jeep struck into a Ford Escape and a Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Trailblazer then caught fire as well.

The occupants of both vehicles which include two people inside the Trailblazer and one in the Jeep succumbed to their injuries.

U.S. 189 was closed in that area as troopers investigated the crash.
