Excuse me, I want 10 of those Aston Martin One-77

by Ron Grant

That would have been the words of a mystery buyer who allegedly wrote a check for $17 million to buy 10 of the Aston Martin supercars. Purely excessive, but Aston Martin will not in anyway complain.

According to a report filed by Times in London, the buyer ordered ten of the Aston Martin One-77 which will only have a very limited run of 77 units. Each of the speed monsters has a sticker price of £1.2 million pounds and is set to go on sale before the end of 2010.

The mystery buyer bought about 13% of the total production of the supercar and paid a bill of roughly £12 million or $17 million. The buyer is reportedly a person of Middle Eastern roots and has instructed the company that he wants every car with a different color scheme and different cabin trim.

The Aston Martin One-77 was unveiled last year. It was designed to meet head on hypercars like the Reventon from Lamborghini and the Bugatti Veyron which are both with a million plus Pounds sticker price. The One-77 will sport a V-12 with 7.3L displacement that can output 700 bhp. It can blast from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and can hit a top speed of 220 mph.

Aston Martin held back the details of the supercar prior to its launch and only released teasers for car aficionados and journalists. It even displayed the car under heavy drapes just to give attendees of the motor show an idea of its shape and nothing else. It seems this course developed the hype well for the much awaited vehicle.

The buyer of the 10 cars is not the only buyer who placed multiple One-77 orders. During its unveiling in Geneva back in 2009, one visitor was bargaining for two cars for £2 million. Aston Martin reveals that 65 out of the 77 One-77 are spoken for.
