Kia temporarily suspends operations at Anantpur plant in India

South Korean automaker Kia Motors on Monday announced that it has suspended all its operations at its solitary manufacturing plant located in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh, India with immediate effect.

The decision has been taken in response to the spread of coronavirus. It also stated the operations have been stopped until further notice.

All Kia dealerships are operating and reaching out to customers via their digital channels. “Customers can also explore our website for more information on our leading products Seltos and Carnival and get in touch with us for additional assistance”, stated the automaker.

The company informed it is closely watching the situation and making sure that the best interests of everyone involved with its operations in the nation. It will also remain connected with all concerned officials and administration and will extend all potential cooperation and assistance, as-and-when needed.

A number of leading automakers in India have also announced the temporary closure of their plants because of coronavirus crisis for varying periods of time.

About 425 people in India have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 8 people in the country.
