SAIC, GM and Wuling venture posts strong vehicle sales in first quarter

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), a major Chinese automaker, reported strong vehicle sales in the first quarter of this year.

SGMW, a joint venture between SAIC Motor, General Motors and Liuzhou Wuling Motors, sold 457,164 vehicles during the January-March period, showing an increase of 75 percent year on year.

Its exports gained 50 percent year on year to 31,055 units in this duration.

Among the overall sales, SGMW sold 103,932 small electric vehicles in the quarter, including 93,814 units of its Hongguang MINI electric vehicle.

SGMW is based in Liuzhou, China. It was founded in 2002.
