A while back, we covered a concept that at that time was wrapped in mystery: the Nissan Hi-Cross. The Geneva Motor Show has come, and it was time for the Japanese to tell us what this concept is all about.
There had been rumors that the new vehicle from Nissan would be Qashqai’s replacement, and you could interpret it like that, but it actually isn’t. As the matter of fact, the Nissan Hi-Cross is a glimpse in the future of the X-Trail crossover, and it will be sold in Europe, Australia, Japan and other markets.
The Hi-Cross combines elements from the Qashqai and the smaller Juke. The front fascia looks very dynamic thanks to the modern headlight design. This vehicle also gets neat 21-inch wheels.
Power comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection combined with an electric motor. The transmission is a CVT. According to Nissan, the new hybrid system will move the car as well as the previous 2.5-liter engine did. They used a lithium-ion battery that can power the electric motor to the point where the car can be driven in full EV mode.
Nissan didn’t give us more information regarding performance and/or technical specifications. We’ll probably just have to wait and see.
