Aston Martin announces Rapid S with increased horsepower

by SpeedLux

It’s the bit more version of Rapid of Aston Martin. The company announced arrival of Rapid S, which joins revised DB9, the new Vanquish, and also the vantage. Rapid S is a four-door and four-seat sedan/coupe and it marks the 100 birthday of Aston this year. The car was in production since early 2010.

Rapid S is equipped with the same rear-wheel-drive as the previous model. The engine is also same as 6.0-liter V-12, but with increased horsepower to 550 from 470. The torque too has been raised to 457 from 443.

The car has reached high closeness to Panamera Turbo S of Porsche in terms of output, but the acceleration has made it a bit disappointing if compared very carefully. It is able to boast zero-60 mph time from 5.1 secs to 4.7 secs, which is behind the Turbo S of 3.6 secs.

It is learned the S has grabbed from Vanquish and DB9 the adaptive suspension system. With this facility drivers can opt for Normal, Sport and Track modes.

The front grille of Rapid S has been made large. It is now a one-piece unit that extends from bottom to the new hood below the bumper.
