When Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO of Bentley Motors regarded the Bentley Bentayga as a benchmark SUV vehicle against which all SUVs will be compared, it appears that he wasn’t merely talking in zest.
The hand-built Bentley Bentayga has finally rolled off the shelves from the Crewe factory in the UK, marking the first time Bentley has stepped into the Luxury SUV segment. The Bentley Bentayga is a hand-crafted model, which took 130 hours to put together, and according to Bentley, this car is the fastest as well as the most powerful SUV ever.
Taking a look under the hood, we find a new Twin-turbocharged 6.0 liter W12 engine by Volkswagen that produces 600 Horsepower and 663 lb-ft of torque. This helps haul this beast of a vehicle from 0-60 mph in about 4 seconds. The Bentley Bentayga comes with a top speed of 187 mph.
For all the luxury that Bentley Bentayga comes with, the price tag isn’t modest either. The Bentley Bentayga has been priced at USD $229,100 in the US and is definitely one of the most expensive vehicles out there.
While the design isn’t a fan favorite, the Bentayga will almost certainly find a lot of takers in the ultra-rich demographic and we can expect to see this vehicle in many music videos in the future for certain. A benchmark for SUVs? Maybe not. But it’s definitely a benchmark when it comes to luxury cars.
