BMW 7-Series to Feature Leather Engine Cover and Sky Lounge Roof

by SpeedLux

Those BMW vehicles out there that bear the 7-Series moniker have always been identical to luxury. Those who can afford the car are those who know how to enjoy life in the luxurious ways. If you happen to be among those waiting for the next generation 7-Series to finally reach your local BMW dealership, well, here are some of the new luxury features that you can expect from the Bavarian-based automaker.

The most interesting new additions to the list of luxury amenities available onboard the BMW 7-Series seem to be the leather engine cover besides the thing that the company is calling the ‘Sky Lounge Roof’. Speaking of the latter, BMW claims that this is a panoramic glass roof which may look like what it showed off on the Concept 5-Series Gran Turismo way back in the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Now what about the leather cover?

Well, based on the report published by the AutoEvolution, buyers will be able to choose from a number of options, one of which is the 3CM option. This means that even the engine of the vehicle will be covered by luxurious leather material. This, however, will not be the first time that the German company is offering to cover the engine with leather. It has done exactly the same thing for the i8 as well. Nonetheless, in the case of the BMW i8, the engine is not located at a conventional position, it is located under the trunk floor, at the rear of the car, instead. So, it is exciting to see how BMW will be using the leather material to cover a conventionally positioned engine.

It is said that the next generation BMW 7-Series will also come with a lot more luxury amenities besides that luxurious leather engine cover and Sky Lounge Roof. For instance, it will come with carbon fiber and aluminum joint platform, a new iDrive system featuring a touchscreen display that supports gesture input, an audio system from Bowers and Wilkins, wireless phone charging and a whole lot more.
