Columbus Zoo and Aquarium staff members saved a canine Saturday after visitors saw it locked a vehicle in the parking area.
A female, who asked not to be identified, posted a picture on Facebook of the pet dog and said she called the security team.
She stated she stood there until the dog was safely out of the automobile, and wondered why it took about 40 minutes for security to rescue it.
The Zoo, in a Facebook reaction to another visitor, stated the temperature level inside the car went 90 degrees– and that the owner didn’t go back to the vehicle till 2 hours after the canine was removed from the automobile.
The high on Saturday estimated 74 degrees.
In May, Ohio Governor John Kasich had signed a bill making it legal for individuals to compel their way into a locked automobile to rescue a pet if police are unable to get there in time.
Senate Bill 215 does not take effect until August 29.
The law feature some limitations, however. The person needs to call 911, they must check to see if the door is unlocked and if they feel it is an emergency they can break into the automobile.
