If you are a fan of the Honda Civic, there is good news for you. The Japanese automaker has released a number of official images, teasing the upcoming Civic Type R model. In addition to the teaser images, the Japanese company has also released more details regarding the car.
As can be seen in the teaser images, the car will sport an aggressive look on the exterior. This is clearly reflected by the aggressively looking front bumper. According to Honda, this front bumper has been designed such that it is going to be well capable of inhibiting air turbulence that exists around the front tires of the vehicle. This will help cut drag and hence improve the stability of the car while running at a high speed. Aside from the front bumper, the Japanese automaker has also confirmed officially that the car will feature aerodynamic side skirts, ventilated front fenders and also a front splitter.
In addition to that, the car will also be wearing a prominent rear wing as well as underbody panels, which function to direct air towards the sporty diffuser available on the rear fascia of the vehicle.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the technical specifications of the vehicle, Honda is still pretty tight-lipped. Nonetheless, the company has officially confirmed that this next generation Civic Type R will count on Brembo brakes for deceleration, with 350mm drilled discs and 4-piston calipers. These brakes will be ready behind the 19-inch bespoke alloy wheels that are to come with the vehicle. A 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine will be hiding beneath the hood of the vehicle and it will give the car a top speed of 270 km/h. Honda claims that none other front-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicles in the same segment as the company’s upcoming Civic Type R model have such performance. The car, by the way, will make its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
