Chances of a new Lamborghini SUV making it to the auto scene appear to be almost a surety. That the Italian super car manufacturer is thinking along this line has been revealed by many authoritative sources. Auto Express magazine has been the latest to report this fact and their report states that the new car would be using the same platform as the Audi Q5 and the upcoming Porsche Cajun. Compared with the first SUV that had been built by Lamborghini, the LM002 which had been built for military use, this project seems to be a complete u-turn.
A V12 fitted on the Lamborghini Countach was what had been used as the engine for the LM002. The LM00X which is the name of the new car would have a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8; capable of delivering over 550 hp. Incidentally this same engine is being used on the upcoming Audi S7 in 2011.
With the engine as planned the car should be able to make the 0 to 100 kmph or 62 mph run in less than 4 seconds. This would be better than the sprints of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo or the BMW X6 M. like all Lamborghini models. The design of the car is also expected to be of high and attractive standards.
