The stunning Lotus Elise Concept

by Alex

The official debut of the Lotus Elise is in the year 2015 as per expectations. The concept was unveiled at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. Expected price of the car is to be GBP40,000 or $63,000. The model has drawn inspiration from the current Elise model. This car uses an extruded aluminum bonded chassis and the same has been used for the 2015 model also with the only difference being doing so with better access. It is a new design altogether and has added some of the 2014 Lotus elite design features as well. Weight of the 2015 model would be 2,409 kg that is 1,029 pounds and the car is expected to make the 0 to 100 kmph or 62 mph sprint in 4.3 seconds.

250 kmph is the top speed of the car and is electronically controlled. The engine used is a supercharged 2.0-liter Toyota four-cylinder unit, which can deliver between 320 to 500 hp, depending on the specifications.

For transmission the car uses a twin-clutch manual gearbox plus Stop & Start system. There is option for the buyer to go for a paddle-shifted automatic transmission. The entry level model is the 2015 Elise which is based on the hybrid KERS technology which finds application in F1 formula cars. There would also be the roadster or a coupe version of the car available with a sporty “R” model is under development.
