Mercedes are all set to celebrate their extraordinary 125 years in motorsport as Formula 1 reaches Germany for its 11th round. The German Giants will be the title sponsor of this year’s event in Hockenheim. The team led by Toto Wolff have 5 consecutive World Championships in Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsports. They are way ahead of Ferrari this season and are looking to clinch their 6th title. There really could not have been a better time to celebrate this extraordinary feat.
Mercedes will celebrate this wonderful feat by showcasing a one-off livery in this event commemorating the first automobile race which took place between the open roads between Paris and Rouen exactly a century and quarter ago. Gotlieb Dailmer whose 9 cars finished the first automobile race would go on to build cars with Benz and establish a huge legacy. At this time their cars used to be painted white. More-over this will be their 200th Grand Prix start and they have momentum coming to this race. Boss Toto Wolff expects members from the Mercedes family to be up in numbers in paddock and the Grand stands due to the reason that their global headquarters is based in Stuttgart. We can therefore, expect a lot of support for the team.
Even though the weekend is one of joy and commemoration, off track celebrations won’t be affecting race preparations. Lewis Hamilton leads the driver’s championship this year and Valtteri Bottas his team-mate is running in second position. The team would surely like to bring the momentum from Silverstone into this race. Mercedes lead the constructors Championships by far this season with 407 points compared to Ferrari’s 243. Therefore, the team will surely like to further extend their grip over the championships in this positive weekend.
The one off livery will tell the story of the birth of the first Silver Arrow. This was when they had to scrape off their white paint before their first Grand Prix in 1934.
