Jaguar had introduced their updated XKR model last year exactly around this time. The company is going to do a repeat at the Geneva Motor Show with their new XKR-S model which has an updated engine which is a supercharged V8 unit as also new suspension and aerodynamic features added to the car.
The original supercharged V8 engine from Jaguar has been modified to now deliver 550 hp and 680 Nm or 501 lb ft of torque. This means an increase of 40 HP and 70Nm over the standard car. With an enhanced under-the-hood-capability, the car is also now able to do the 0 to 60 mph or 96 kmph sprint in just 4.2 seconds while the top speed reads an impressive 186 mph or 300 kmph. For a sprint of 0 to 100 mph the car takes 8.6 seconds.
Emission rates are 300 kg/km of CO2 which as per Jaguar is the lowest that a car on this genre emits.
The suspension system as well as a reprogrammed Adaptive Dynamics system is the other additional features that this modified car boasts of. The car is now shod with lightweight alloy wheels with performance tires.
The car is also easily distinguishable with its aerodynamic exterior add-ons. The front bumper is more aggressive looking, the side skirts have been re-profiled and additional air vents have been added on the hood and bumpers. There is also the addition of a large rear wing and rear bumper that has been redesigned and houses a diffuser and quad tail pipes.
Jaguar has a new Global Brand Director in Adrian Hallmark, who adds, “The XKR-S is a bold and exciting new model for Jaguar. We expect to attract both loyal and new Jaguar driving enthusiasts who still want the comfort, opulence and class only a Jaguar can offer, combined with inspirational performance.”
Full details of the car would be available to the public at the Geneva Show scheduled for March 1.
