Nissan preps up BRE 370Z in celebration of car’s 40th anniv

by Ron Grant

It appears that it will not be one but two cars donning the colors of the Brock Racing Enterprises of Pete Brock at the upcoming Walter Mitty Challenge at Road Atlanta this May. A few days after Mazda disclosed their plans of fielding an MX5 BRE tribute for the MX-5 Cup by Playboy, Japanese carmaker Nissan announced that it is currently preparing a Nismo 370Z to pay homage to BRE.

All the things happening are actually in honor of BRE’s achievement forty years ago when it captured the SCCA National Championship with the 240Z on track and John Morton behind the wheels. The 240Z was the first ass-kicking racer from Japan in America.

Brock is working with the painters at the Nissan garage to make sure that they will produce a modern interpretation.

The 350Z will be configured to abide by the regulations for SCCA T2. The Z will take a bow in a special dinner scheduled for next week at Road Atlanta. The activity also kicks off the big vintage racing weekend.  The car will also zoom for Z Club events and take part at the SCCA regionals by summer this year.
