A new modified variant of the new Mustang GT tagged as the SMS 302 was recently launched during the celebration of the 46th anniversary of Ford Mustang. The SMS 302 was created by the SMS Supercars, a company by Steve Saleen.

The latest muscle car joins the ranks of other SMS Signature series vehicles. The last addition to the range before the SMS 302 Mustang was the SMS 570 Challenger launched last spring.

The 2011 modification of the Ford Mustang GT is the second offering of three by the SMS Supercars. Next in the line up will be the unveiling of the SMS 62 Camaro on the latter part of 2010.

SMS Supercars will offer two versions of the Ford Mustang GT SMS 302. One will be the 4V variant which will sport a naturally aspirated V-8 engine with a 5.0L displacement. The other variant will be the SC which makes use of an SMS 296 Supercharger.

The SMS 302 4V with the naturally aspirated V8 will have an output of 440 horsepower and a torque of 400 pound feet. The numbers can be attributed 4-valve head design, improved pulley drive, high flow design exhaust system, performance filtration, and optimal fuel calibration.

The 4V Mustang by SMS Supercars can zoom from o to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. The quartermile mark can be reached in 13.5 seconds at a speed of 116 mph.

The second option, the 302SC boasts of 535 horsepower and an excellent torque of 450 pound feet. SMS used their custom supercharger in combo with their intercooler to up the performance figures. Buyers will have an option to get their car on a six speed manual or automatic transmission.

The 302SC can speed up from 0 to 60 mph in a matter of 4.3 seconds reaching the quarter mile in just 12.1 seconds while blasting at 119 mph.

Standard features for the two variants of the 2011 Mustang GT modifications are custom body kit, performance config system, 20-inch rims hugged by PZero tires from Pirelli, and cross-drilled brakes.

On the drawing boards of SMS Supercars is an even more potent and aggressive version of the 2011 Mustang GT tagged as the SMS 351X.
