Three people died following a major crash in San Antonio on early Sunday morning.

The crash took place around 1 a.m. when an SUV with four occupants moving eastbound on the 1604 access road was hit by another car. Officials say firefighters used the jaws of life to cut into the SUV and evacuate two people.

Two individuals, identified as 37-year-old Daniel Valenzuela Jr. and 69-year-old Daniel Valenzuela Sr., were pronounced dead at the scene.

The third victim, identified as 84-year-old Andrea Iglesias Uvalle, succumbed to injuries in hospital.

A 41-year-old woman was still being treated for serious injuries.

The intersection of 1604 and Culebra was shut for several hours as San Antonio Police Department officials investigated the crash.
