Three people died following a head-on car crash on Thursday morning in Lincoln County, Missouri.

The crash took place right before 7 a.m. in the area of State Highway JJ and Lakeview Drive, which is close to Elsberry, Missouri.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officials believe that speed played a role in the crash.

The identities of the three victims have been released as Charles Edgar, 23, of O’Fallon, Missouri; Denise Presley, 41, of Branson; and Richard Lamb, 40, of Elsberry.

Edgar had been driving north in a 2005 Chevrolet 1500, and Lamb, with Presley as passenger, was driving south in a 2007 Toyota Tundra.

Edgar hit the brakes after the Tundra appeared in the southbound lane, causing the Chevrolet truck to skid throughout the center of the roadway.

The three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

None of victims used seat belt.
