Three teens killed after car fell into Kansas river

Three teenagers are dead after a car crash in Lyon County, Kansas.

Officials responded to a report of an injured teenager walking down the road Southwest of Emporia at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

When the officials arrived, they saw a 15-year-old who told them she was a passenger in a car crash nearby. Police found a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix in the river with three teens inside.

The three teens, Chase Luby, 17, Paxton Luby, 13, and Shelby Phoenix, 17, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 15-year-old who was injured was admitted to an area hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is being investigated. It is yet to be known if charges would be levied against anyone.
