Toyota Motor will need to build 700,000 vehicles worldwide in February, an increase of 10% on the year, but will still have to make a million more in March in order to touch an annual production target of 9 million, according to The Nikkei.

A Toyota spokesperson has not recognized this report.

The automaker has been trying to increase production in the final months of the business due to output lost earlier because of a shortage of components and renewed COVID-19 movement restrictions.

Toyota and other automakers have been forced to reduce production even as demand in key markets such as China has shown recovery in auto sales.
