Two people were killed after their red sports car split in two after it hit a tree just after 3 a.m. Sunday, in South Florida.

The crash took place when the car was moving west on Johnson Street and the driver veered off the road at North 32 Avenue. The car narrowly missed a fire hydrant only to hit a nearby oak tree that left the car split in two.

The Hollywood Police is yet to know what caused the crash.

For now, they deem it to be a single-vehicle crash.

A man and a woman in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.
