Two dead after three-vehicle crash on I-70 in Fayette County

Two people were killed after a three-vehicle accident that took place on Interstate 70 near milepost 55, Mulberry Grove in Fayette County on Friday.

The accident took place around 9:20 a.m. when a Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer moving eastbound on the interstate left the roadway, traveled through the median, and struck a trailer hitched to a pickup.

The semi then struck a Honda Odyssey, being operated by a 19-year-old man from New Jersey. Both vehicles hit skidded into the ditch.

The Honda driver and a passenger in the car, a 20-year old woman from New Jersey were pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the semi, a 55-year-old man from Las Angeles, was flown to a regional hospital with serious injuries.

The crash was being investigated by Illinois police.
