Two people were killed and three more injured in a car crash Tuesday afternoon in Hammond, Indiana.

The crash took place about 3:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of Calumet Avenue.

Isaiah Cunningham, 21, was driving north when he swerved into another lane and struck another northbound vehicle, according to Hammond police.

He then lost control of his car and veered into oncoming traffic, hitting a southbound vehicle.

He and his passenger, Arianna Robinson, 22, were both declared dead at the scene, the Lake County, Indiana, coroner’s office said.

Three more people were taken to hospital with injuries. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

Cunningham lived in Chicago and Robinson in Dolton, according to officials. Autopsies ruled both their deaths an accident.

Police said alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the car crash.
