Two killed after car crash on NY State Thruway

Two people were killed on the New York State Thruway on early Monday when a driver drove in the wrong direction and struck an oncoming vehicle.

A 68-year-old identified as George Gonzalez of Dumont, N.J., was driving north in the Thruway’s southbound lanes and hit a vehicle driven by a 67-year-old identified as Yehuda Weinstock of Chester.

Gonzalez’s car was engulfed due to the crash.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

New York State Police investigated the crash.
