Two killed after car crashes and gets trapped under semi in Illinois

Two people were killed after a car and a semi collided in the 9900 block of North Alpine Road, Rockford, Illinois on Thursday night.

A male driver and female passenger of the Yukon car were both died at the scene. The driver of the semi remained uninjured.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies confirmed at around 8:46 p.m. on Thursday that one person died in the crash.

After 9:50 p.m., a post on the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Twitter page confirmed death of another person.

The crash was blocking both lanes in the 9900 block of North Alpine, which is north of Highway 173. Police asked people to avoid the area for the time being.
