Two teenage girls died following a rollover car crash near Lathrop on Thursday night.

Both victims were from Manteca.

There were two other teens who got injured.

The crash was reported at 10 p.m. on Dos Reis Road at the San Joaquin River.

It took place when a 17-year-old boy from Manteca was driving a 2008 Honda Accord west on Dos Reis at a high rate of speed. The Honda kept moving where the road ends at the river. The car went over a raised levee and through a fence, overturning and landing on its roof in the river.

Two of his female passengers, ages 16 and 17, were pronounced dead at the scene.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and believes that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
