2 dead, 1 seriously injured after car crash in Brookfield, Massachusetts

Two people were killed after a two-car head-on crash on Route 49 in East Brookfield, Massachusetts on Monday.

The crash took place at the intersection of Route 49 and Flagg Road, and the officials were notified of the scene around 12:30 p.m.

It happened when a 60-year-old Fitchburg man was driving a 2021 Nissan Rogue traveling northbound on Route 49, and a 71-year-old Leicester man was moving southbound on Route 49 in a 2018 Toyota Tacoma.

As the vehicles went through the intersection at Flagg Road, the Nissan Rogue crossed into the southbound lane and hit the Toyota.

Both drivers died due to the crash.

A passenger in the Toyota, a 28-year-old man from Leicester was hospitalized at a nearby hospital.

Massachusetts State Police is investigating the crash.
