Driver jailed after passenger dies in Portland stolen-car crash

A 26-year-old driver has been arrested on DUII, second-degree manslaughter and other allegations following a crash in Portland that killed a passenger in his car. The car had been allegedly stolen.

Adam Alexander Valle has been further charged with reckless driving and failure to carry out the duties of a driver, police stated.

The victim’s name has not been released pending family notifications in Portland’s seventh fatal crash so far this year.
 
Police in Portland stated an officer at around 11 p.m. Saturday tried a traffic stop near Southeast 124th Avenue. The vehicle did not stop and the officer did not pursue it.
 
The Subaru Legacy struck into a pole at 122nd Avenue and Division Street. Arriving officers figured out a passenger in the car had died.
 
Police state the driver fled but was discovered within a block. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
