Motorcycle Rider Bill Warner Breaks 300 MPH Barrier

by Adrian Hayden

Records are made in order to be broken. It’s probably the same thing Bill Warner, a man from Wimauma, Florida, had in mind he managed to break the 300 mph on a conventional motorcycle.

Despite dangers, Bill Warner managed to hit an amazing speed of 311.945 mphp at the former Loring Air Force Base from Limestone, Maine during the Loring Timing Association’s Land Speed Race. He was riding a turbocharged 1299cc Suzuki Hayabusa (GSX1300R) with some mods.

Warner broke his own record of 278.6 mph, set in October 2010 in Texas. The difference however is remarkable.
Suzuki is now the absolute speed champion, Billy said about his Hayabusa that it “is built for speed and that’s what it did.”
As for the incredible performance, it was clearly not an easy task controlling a motorcycle at 300 mph and Warner was quoted saying that “The big part of it, after the speed happens, is trying to stop the bike. Here at Loring Air Force Base, there is a mile shutdown to slow the vehicles down and I used every bit of it. The bike was bouncing, hopping, skipping and sliding. Needless to say, I got it stopped safely. It was a little scary.”

There were more than 4000 spectators and 155 participants. Event director Mark Sotomayor couldn’t be other way than pleased by the outcome “We are the new home of the motorcycle world record. We had great help from the volunteers, the Loring Development Agency and the National Wildlife Refuge folks. We forward to the next event.”, he declared.

Kudos to him for this remarkable achievement, proves that dedication and a bit of luck can brake any barrier.
