The new 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS

by Alex

End September and the event being the 2010 Paris Motor Show is where the second generation Mercedes Benz CLS would be making its presence felt. There is however details about this car available and makes good sense to read them up before hand. There are even official pictures of the car to judge from.

The styling of the car has been inspired by the SLS and this is evident given the blunt appearance of the nose, otherwise the car can be recognized as a segment creating CLS.

This car is going to be heralding the entry of Mercedes in the 4 door coupe segment as well as be the flag ship for times to come. Even though expectation was that being the entry model to the four door coupe segment the car should have had a lot of high tech attached in it there was just the full LED headlamp assembly and nothing else worth the mention in gadgets.

The interior of the CLS holds a close resemblance with the SLS given its climate controls and their placement. There are also five options in which the car comes as far as interior make up goes. They are five different colors and trims where 3 are wood finish and two synthetic finishes. There are three types of leather options too to choose from.

The choice that one gets on selecting the wood finish which is by far the coolest looks for interior are gloss brown burr walnut, high-gloss black ash, and satin-finish light-brown poplar. There is the piano lacquer or carbon fiber finish for the more sporty people.

Pre-treated leather on the dashboard handles the effects of direct sunlight. The seats are also covered with leather that’s hand sewn. The problem of special forms that the BMW Frozen Gray M3 has is absent in this case.

The leather is 1.6 mm thick and as Mercedes themselves put it “”the natural pore structure remains intact, the natural characteristics also remain visible for the most part, [so] the semi-aniline leather requires a very precise manual selection process.”

There is complete details about the CLS yet awaited from Mercedes and until then we have to wait and watch the photographs we have till now which is of its prototype and some of designs also.
